ClearWellness Partners with UNT Health Science Center to Investigate the Impact of Wellness Services on Senior Well-Being
Research partnership with UNT will study benefits within independent living communities
ROSEVILLE, Calif. – July 15, 2024 – ClearWellness, a provider of wellness-based services and safety-focused solutions that enable seniors to live more meaningful lives and remain independent longer, is proud to announce a research collaboration with the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC).
Together, ClearWellness and UNTHSC will conduct a groundbreaking study to assess and document the multifaceted benefits of the ClearWellness service on seniors residing in independent living communities.
The core objective of this research is to evaluate how ClearWellness coaching and smart device monitoring influence seniors’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. Combining the innovative offerings of ClearWellness with UNTHSC’s clinical research expertise, the collaborative study aims to provide valuable insights into healthy aging and geriatric care.
“Our mission at ClearWellness is to empower seniors to live their best lives through personalized support and innovative technology,” said Robert Rae, CEO and President of ClearWellness. “This collaboration with UNTHSC will allow us to further that mission on a greater scale while simultaneously validating the need for ClearWellness as the population continues to age. By rigorously studying the impact of our service, we can unlock valuable insights to enhance senior well-being and independence. We are excited to partner with UNTHSC’s esteemed researchers and look forward to findings that will shape the future of healthy aging solutions.”
The research design developed through the ClearWellness-UNTHSC collaboration will align with the existing ClearWellness service delivery model and adhere to rigorous study standards. One hundred twenty-five seniors from independent living communities in Texas will participate in the study. Each senior will be paired with a Certified Health and Wellness Coach to develop a personalized plan that maintains independence and quality of life with help from a suite of smart devices.
All participants will receive twice-weekly telephone conversations, holistic assessments, and continuous personalized support. Various measures of well-being will be studied, including physical fitness, emotional health, quality of life, sleep quality, and fall/emergent health reduction impact. Data will be collected from ClearWellness system monitoring, coach-led interventions, and standardized outcome measures. The collaboration between ClearWellness and UNTHSC ensures a comprehensive evaluation framework to assess the service’s impact.
Kathlene Camp, PT, DPT, Principal Investigator and Professor at UNTHSC, is excited about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with ClearWellness represents a unique opportunity to advance our understanding of how wellness coaching and technology can positively impact the lives of seniors. We are committed to conducting rigorous research that will inform opportunities to improve health outcomes for this vulnerable population.”
